About St.Luis University
Founded in 1818, Saint Louis University is one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious Catholic universities. SLU, which also has a campus in Madrid, Spain, is recognized for world-class academics, life-changing research, compassionate health care, and a strong commitment to faith and service.
Rankings and Honors
Saint Louis University is ranked among the top Jesuit universities in the country but academics aren’t our only point of pride. SLU is recognized as a character-building college. We’re honored for our efforts to serve others. And national groups make note of everything from the sustainability to the beauty of our St. Louis campus.
Student Research
Building upon the rigorous academic tradition of the Jesuits, Saint Louis University offers undergraduate research opportunities across all types of majors. Here, learning is engaging, active and hands-on. We are part of the regional Students and Teachers as Research Scientists (STARS) program, one of five area research institutions committed to passing along a fervor for scientific inquiry.
St. Louis Is a College City
Founded in 1818, SLU was the first university in St. Louis, Missouri. SLU and the city have been shaping each other ever since. Maybe you can’t call St. Louis a college town — with nearly 3 million residents in the metro area, it’s too big for that.
But it might be something better: a college city.
